There is currently a shortage of qualified helicopter pilots available in
a field that is expected to grow as much as 60% in the next 10 years.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration, there has been a
13% - 17% decrease in commercial helicopter pilots since 1994.

PRIVATE PILOT  -  40 HOURS TOTAL FLIGHT TIME

20 hours dual instruction including:

     3 hours cross-country training in a helicopter

     3 hours night training in a helicopter including:

          1 cross –country flight of over 50nm total distance

          10 takeoffs & landings each with a flight in the traffic pattern

     3 hours practical test preparation training in a helicopter within 60 days of test

10 hours solo flight time in a helicopter including:

     3 hours cross-country flight of at least 75 nm in a helicopter with landings at a minimum of
       three points with a minimum of 25nm between the points

     3 takeoffs and landings (each with a flight in the traffic pattern) at an airport with an operating
       control tower

COMMERCIAL PILOT - 150 HOURS TOTAL FLIGHT TIME INCLUDING:

100 hours PIC including:
     35 hours in helicopters
     10 hours cross country in helicopters
20 hours of training including:
     10 hours of instrument training in an aircraft
     1 cross country flight of 2 hours in day VFR
     1 cross country flight of 2 hours in night VFR
     3 hours of training in prep for the practical exam
10 hours of solo flight including
     1 cross country flight with minimum of 3 points
     5 hours of night VFR flfligh
